"Les cafés du monde" with Henri-Paul Normandin - CIMtl

A coffee and a city at the heart of diplomacy:

The international questions and the radiance of Montreal were at the heart of this edition of world coffee organized by " International Connection of Montreal " (CIMtl) in collaboration with QI Montreal and Café Liégeois. The guests had the chance to savor a delicious compatible espresso with the Nespresso® machine, while enjoying the guests words, Henri-Paul Normandin. The old Ambassador of Canada in the Republic of Haiti or even the UN discussed with a group of twelve people on the future of international relations and the City of Montreal. For the Canadian diplomat, the cities have their word to say on the international scale, whether it be at the level of planning, commerce or even the ecology.

A life experience:

We retain that living abroad, is also about developing important abilities and acquiring a life experience. For that, Henri-Paul Normandin suggested to the guests to open themselves and to live among local populations, all while learning the language to understand how things work in such a community.

Openness, listening and inspiration remain the catchwords of this evening of exchange around a good Café Liégeois coffee.

The next edition of world coffees will be announced shortly, although it is without a doubt that Café Liégeois will proudly represent the coffees of the world.

New in 2016: The "Chiapas Mexico " 100% BioEquitable!

A cup of Chiapas Mexico is the reunion of ripe fruit punctuated with typical citrus notes of sour coffees from Mexico.

However, the steps surrounding the Chiapas Mexico go way further than just a unique and flavorsome taste. This new collection is the result of a social approach initiated by Café Liégeois, the association “Terres Solidaires” and it’s local producers.

Terres Solidaires and Café Liégeois for the Chiapas:

In 2008, Michel Liégeois (General Manager of Café Liégeois Belgique) visited the villages and plantation of the Chiapas state, south of Mexico. By meeting these communities, he took consciousness of the problems in which these people are confronted with daily.

Since then, Café Liégeois decided, with collaboration of the ONBL Terres Solidaires, to help these populations become economically viable, during the whole year.

In this context, and the principles of the Fair Trade, Café Liégeois guaranties a minimum price to the producers, regardless of what the market is like. In Canada, we have decided to put forward the fair trade collection, as well as the other coffee’s at the price of 50¢/capsule, starting at the end of January 2016.

The Chiapas Mexico is therefore a fair trade coffee from a totally natural cultivation, 100%Bio thanks to a slow maturing process and non-sunburned grains.

From Belgium to the heart of your cup: The path of Café Liégeois Coffees

An exceptional coffee:

Café Liégeois processes around 3.000 tones of coffee per year in Belgium. Stored in it’s factories, the beans from the four corners of the world are roasted and packaged for commercialization. The difficulty here is to obtain the most constant taste as the beans often come from diverse and varied backgrounds. Most of our coffees are the result of a mix of coffee beans, which carry distinct taste characteristics, which allows the product to be unique. Other subtle mixes are being studied in order to be commercialized soon, in order to propose a coffee card to connoisseurs, as we would for wine.

The step following bean packaging and the roasting, consists of wrapping the coffee in packets, but also the production of 1.500.000 capsules of 7g/day, soft or hard, for espresso and percolator pump machines. It also packages the sugar, which accompanies the coffee (in pieces, sticks or small flat bags). A rotating printer allows the factory to run autonomously in terms of packaging.
