Current events & News - Café Liégeois
Café Liégeois Canada’s whole team had the amazing opportunity to participate in these two internationally renowned events: Movin’on and C2 Montréal.
C2 Montréal, which represents the World Summit of Creativity and Commerce, is a unique event. The principal? From May 23rd to 25th 2018, these two sectors came together in order to explore new tendencies, opportunities, disorders and major mutations on the horizon.Discovering the C2 village and participating in different labs, brainstorming and other activities (electronic boat, escape game…) was an atypical and rewarding experience. Our vision of this event is the following: C2 Montréal is represented as a space where curiosity is the standard; risk is encouraged and daring rewarded.
Afterwards, from May 30th to June 1st 2018, our team attended the World Summit of Mobile Durability, named Movin’on and sponsored by Michelin. Over 4000 participants from across the world were present during this major event. Therefore, Café Liégeois was able to meet many people from different sectors, all reunited to exchange around a common preoccupation: how to develop concrete solutions to meet the major challenges of mobility and sustainable development?
These two events rich in meetings and various experiences, allowed us to get out of our comfort zone to discover new concepts and thematic. This was also an opportunity for Café Liégeois Canada’s team to develop a new look on the challenges of tomorrow, as well as adapting our strategy.
Being aware of the concerns with global nutrition, Café Liégeois Canada is committed to collecting food items and returning them to Moisson Montréal.
Moisson Montréal is a charity organisation that gathers food items and essential products. Once collected, these products are distributed to community organizations throughout the island of Montréal free of charge. In a few numbers, Moisson Montréal is over 650 000 requests for help filled, with more than 136 000 people aided every month. This initiative is part of our approach of implication and compensation in the community of Montréal.
That’s why, this past May 15th and 16th we held our first food bank at the Halte 24-7. Through this co-working space, we reunited close to 150 members and collected many food products. Canned food, cereal, pasta and many other items we’re given. During this occasion, Café Liégeois Canada offered many bags of 250 grams for a total of 6 kg of coffee.
We would like to thank Moisson Montréal and the Halte 24-7 for giving life to our project, as well as providing the necessary materials. We’re excited to repeat this initiative in our new working space with Natalie Voland and the members of this location.
Belgian master roaster since 1955, Café Liégeois Canada took home this past November the 1st place prize for Belgium-Quebec business ties, having demonstrated an excellent performance this past year respectively in Belgium and/or in Québec. It’s after such an honour that during this month of March, Café Liégeois is happy to have met the King Philippe and the Queen Mathilde of Belgium this month in Ottawa and Montréal. The last official travel by a Belgian official took place 41 years ago, in 1977 by the King Baudouin.
This week began March 12th in Ottawa. Our two associates, Jean-Nicholas Papillon and Camille Dodd had the honour to be invited at the Gala Dinner in Rideau Hall. This event was the occasion to exchange with the King and Queen and to be able to meet with different guests.
March 15th in Montréal, inside the Mont-Royal Chalet, part of our team took place in the Royal cocktail. They were delighted during this evening as sharing and conviviality were the rendez-vous.
To end this royal week, a cheerful concert in honour of their Majesties took place at the Rialto Theater in Montréal. This last event was able to reinforce and celebrate once again the ties between both countries.
Café Liégeois Canada is very proud and honoured to have been able to participate in the historic visit of their Majesties in our country, symbolizing the Canadian-Belgian friendship.
Café Liégeois Canada, a company that is built on the values of entrepreneurial spirit, was proud to have attended the very first edition of Expo Entrepreneurs, an event whose goal was to bring together entrepreneurs from around the province.
Inspire, connect, solve. These three powerful words were the recurring themes of this first edition that was held at Place Bonaventure in the heart of Montreal. The goal of this two-day event was to strengthen Quebec’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by bringing together its main players under the same roof. Over 6,000 people from Québec’s entrepreneurial community were in attendance for the 160 conferences, labs and ateliers.
For the occasion, Café Liégeois Canada offered their event services by offering delicious espressos and americanos to all participants, speakers, volunteers and other partners. Over 2,000 coffees were freshly prepared and served in just two days!
The Expo was rich in meetings, conversations and its overall experience. We are very much looking forward to the 2019 edition.
Café Liégeois has announced the launch of the first 100% bio-compost coffee capsule compatible with the Nespresso®* OriginalLine® machines in North America. This certified innovation from Europe responds to the consumer concerns of the ecological and environmental impact of single serve coffee.
"Recycling is a known habit. But today, it is time to look towards composting to reduce the impact of our waste. There is a real demand in Canada and no solution on the market. To fill this gap, we have been working hard for over 18 months with our partner in Belgium to define the right doses and the right technology to provide a quality coffee compatible with Nespresso® machines, "said Camille Dodd, cofounder of Café Liégeois Canada.
“In 2016, 38% of Canadians owned a single-serve coffee machine. With the popularity of this type of coffee maker, it was very important for us to offer an ecofriendly alternative. In addition to the capsule, the packaging itself can be put in the compost. This approach is a true reflection focused on the sustainable development and the fight to minimize packaging. In fact, the Quebec government is aiming to ban organic waste from waste destined for landfills, "added Jean Nicholas Papillon, co-founder of Café Liégeois Canada.
Available 20 to 30% cheaper than Nespresso® capsules, these new compostable and Fairtrade Organic coffee capsules are available for sale online across Canada and the United States. Coffee lovers can also find these capsules in over a hundred stores in the provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

Since late 2016, our clients are contributing to the social and professional reintegration of a handicapped employee in the greater Montreal region when ordering on www.cafeliegeois.ca. After 8 months of collaboration, here is the story between Coforce and Café Liégeois.
Coforce has been encouraging the professional integration of handicapped people since 1977 by offering quality jobs that are adapted to their needs. The company is accredited by Emploi-Québec as an adapted enterprise, and offers three different business services: janitorial services, logistics solutions and filing products manufacturers. Indeed, people who find themselves in social reintegration depend on repetitive and less stressful tasks to re-adapt to the workplace or begin their first steps into the professional world.
Café Liégeois uses Coforce for its logistical services, notably for the preparation and shipment of Café Liégeois orders. This “last mile” is particularly important for our client’s satisfaction and the company’s success!
As a Quebec-based enterprise, it is very important for us to be socially engaged within the community. So as of Summer 2017, every Café Liégeois order will contain a small note from Coforce employees that explain our approach.

What is the Chromatic Festival?
Founded in 2009 by MASSIVart, Chromatic distinguishes itself by its mission of creating cultural experiences. The goal of the Festival is to celebrate art in its multiple forms : visual, sound and digital.
All year round, this dedicated team of eleven deploys a vast range of events aimed at discovering new artistic practices from local and international talents.
For this edition, the Festival will take place at two unique locations in Montreal : the Arsenal and the Éloi Studio. Throughout the day, Café Liégeois will be alongside the participants and organizers to accompany them on their coffee breaks with our americano : a well balanced coffee with just a touch of bitterness.

Café Liégeois is pleased to be attending the Europe Day celebration, which will take place on May 9th at the European Union Residence in Ottawa, Ontario. More commonly known as the Schuman Declaration, Europe Day is a symbolic date that marks the birth of the European Union.
Why Europe Day?
It all began on May 9th, 1950, when French foreign minister Robert Schuman proposed an establishment of a European Coal and Steal Community (ECSC) between the French and the West Germans. This Community was the first of its kind in Europe, and has become a pivotal moment in the establishment of the European Union. Today, the founding members of this Community (France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxumbourg) make up the European Union.
To celebrate this day, European Union delegations around the world organize conferences, competitions, film festivals and other events.
A new collaboration
We are looking forward to offering our 100% compatible Nespresso® capsules and a selection of our European roasts to the 500 diplomats and business leaders that are expected to attend this celebration in Ottawa. Café Liégeois is proud to be a partner for this event alongside Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and les Relations internationales et Francophonies du Québec.

We are very happy to announce the presence of Café Liégeois this March 24th at the Never Apart center for a conference organized by CreativeMornings in Montréal. The conferences will have as a theme the journey of Chris Bergeron, one of the only creative directors to have managed on one hand advertising teams and on the other the pressroom of a recognized media, two completely different environments.
What is CreativeMornings?
CreativeMornings was founded a few years ago in New York and is now renown internationally in over 50 different cities.
It was launched on May of 2013 in Montreal, beginning with a team of 8 people whom shared the same passion: creativity. Formed around Louis-Félix Binette, this team has adopted this concept and organize free conferences on the last Friday of each month. Presenters and speakers are known for their creativity, journey and innovating projects.
As mentioned by one of the coordinators a few years ago in the Métro newspaper: « We are presenting speakers that are out of the ordinary and powerfully rising to expose assistance to certain details which we wouldn’t have seen differently».
Collaboration with our partner CreativeMornings:
Over 250 guests are expected by the coordinators and partners such as VOIR magazine, digital marketing agency Minimal and Lickstats will be present. The experience counts for a lot and that’s why everything is implemented - breakfast, coffee, ambiance, surprises – to properly begin the weekend.
We will be happy to offer the guests with a grain selection by Café Liégeois issued from South America.
