Café Liégeois and its meeting with King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium

Belgian master roaster since 1955, Café Liégeois Canada took home this past November the 1st place prize for Belgium-Quebec business ties, having demonstrated an excellent performance this past year respectively in Belgium and/or in Québec. It’s after such an honour that during this month of March, Café Liégeois is happy to have met the King Philippe and the Queen Mathilde of Belgium this month in Ottawa and Montréal. The last official travel by a Belgian official took place 41 years ago, in 1977 by the King Baudouin.

This week began March 12th in Ottawa. Our two associates, Jean-Nicholas Papillon and Camille Dodd had the honour to be invited at the Gala Dinner in Rideau Hall. This event was the occasion to exchange with the King and Queen and to be able to meet with different guests.

March 15th in Montréal, inside the Mont-Royal Chalet, part of our team took place in the Royal cocktail. They were delighted during this evening as sharing and conviviality were the rendez-vous.

To end this royal week, a cheerful concert in honour of their Majesties took place at the Rialto Theater in Montréal. This last event was able to reinforce and celebrate once again the ties between both countries.

Café Liégeois Canada is very proud and honoured to have been able to participate in the historic visit of their Majesties in our country, symbolizing the Canadian-Belgian friendship.

Café Liégeois at The Chromatic Festival 2017

Café Liégeois is very excited to announce its presence at the 8th edition of the Chromatic Festival, which will be taking place from May 24th through June 1st in Montréal. Over 20 000 people are expected to attend this celebration of the city’s creative art scene.

 

What is the Chromatic Festival?

Founded in 2009 by MASSIVart, Chromatic distinguishes itself by its mission of creating cultural experiences. The goal of the Festival is to celebrate art in its multiple forms : visual, sound and digital.

All year round, this dedicated team of eleven deploys a vast range of events aimed at discovering new artistic practices from local and international talents.

For this edition, the Festival will take place at two unique locations in Montreal : the Arsenal and the Éloi Studio. Throughout this multidisciplinary programme (Chromatic Expo, Chromatic Pro, Chromatic Kids and la Nuit Chromatic), we will discover over fifty talented exhibitors from Québec that will blend into an experience filled with creativity and artistic innovation.

Our Collaboration With Chromatic

For the first time, Café Liégeois will be present to offer its quality coffee at the Chromatic Festival, and more specifically during the Chromatic Kids programme, which will be taking place on May 28th at the Éloi Studio. Throughout the day, Café Liégeois will be alongside the participants and organizers to accompany them on their coffee breaks with our americano : a well balanced coffee with just a touch of bitterness.

Café Liégeois at CreativeMornings this March 24th #CMtaboo

Creative Mornings - Café Liégeois

We are very happy to announce the presence of Café Liégeois this March 24th at the Never Apart center for a conference organized by CreativeMornings in Montréal. The conferences will have as a theme the journey of Chris Bergeron, one of the only creative directors to have managed on one hand advertising teams and on the other the pressroom of a recognized media, two completely different environments.

What is CreativeMornings?

CreativeMornings was founded a few years ago in New York and is now renown internationally in over 50 different cities.

It was launched on May of 2013 in Montreal, beginning with a team of 8 people whom shared the same passion: creativity. Formed around Louis-Félix Binette, this team has adopted this concept and organize free conferences on the last Friday of each month. Presenters and speakers are known for their creativity, journey and innovating projects.

As mentioned by one of the coordinators a few years ago in the Métro newspaper: « We are presenting speakers that are out of the ordinary and powerfully rising to expose assistance to certain details which we wouldn’t have seen differently».

Collaboration with our partner CreativeMornings:

Over 250 guests are expected by the coordinators and partners such as VOIR magazine, digital marketing agency Minimal and Lickstats will be present. The experience counts for a lot and that’s why everything is implemented - breakfast, coffee, ambiance, surprises – to properly begin the weekend.

Second participation at the Salon Hop in Montréal (CQCD)

This upcoming March 21st and 22nd, Café Liégeois will once again be present at the Salon Hop organized by the Retail Council of Quebec (CQCD). We are very happy to continue our collaboration with one of the most important actors in the sector, once again in partnership with Mobilia in the VIP lounge.

The top of the retail trade Hop is without a doubt one of the major events in the retail business sector in Quebec. The Brunchs de Mathieu is a concept made for brunch deliveries at home or at the office. It’s the result of an assembly of good products crafted by a French chef (Mathieu, obviously!) who’s just arrived in Montréal. Between sweet and salty, everything is possible with Mathieu. For a few months now he has been working very hard with his delivery men in order to serve the four corners of Montréal. Recently, he has also increased his presence in business events, such as this past 6@8 by Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal reuniting over 200 people.

All boxes are available for 18.00$, with the possibility of adding small extras, such as a delicious Café Liégeois poured directly in your cup by the delivery man. You also have assortments options, whether it be sweet or salty; madeleine’s, salty tarts, pastries, crêpes, sausages, waffles, etc. The small treat that impressed us was the Kinder Bueno tiramisu. A true delight!

The combination of good products :

All products are prepared by hand by the chef, apart from the pastries that are from « Croissant Croissant » a pastry shop in Plateau-Mont-Royal, as well as the smoothies created by Elixir Smoothies, also a young Montréal company. Since the beginning of January, Café Liégeois has partnered with Brunchs de Mathieu in order to offer a quality coffee to accompany the different boxes. The future ahead is bright with this new partnership that will also see daylight within the event sector in the next few months.

A passion for milk since 1954

Created in 1954 by Jacques Chagnon, the Laiterie Chagnon is one of the last existing independent dairies in Quebec. Inauguration of the Neoshop in QI Montréal!

Finally! The first Neoshop implanted in North America saw daylight yesterday during the official inauguration pleasing many young companies in Quebec. It was also the ideal opportunity for Damien Silès (General Manager) and his team to launch their new digital platform!

A concept from Laval … In France !

The concept of Neoshop boutiques don’t come from here, its from a small town called Laval in the West of France. The first Neoshop opened in 2013 thanks to an initiative from the economic development organization Laval Mayenne Technopole (LMT). As indicated the LMT website as well as Journal de Montréal, Neoshop «is a launching ramp to accompany young businesses during the marketing of their products phase». After setting up an ephemeral shop in Paris last year, the organization wished to export its model everywhere, now they’ve met Montréal. 

Developing the market for Quebec start-ups

Operated by our partners at Quartier de l’innovation, the Montréal’s shop goal is to support start-ups from Québec by allowing them to quickly test their product with consumers. Therefore, Café Liégeois will have all of their latest products available in this boutique, such as our bio-compostable capsules this upcoming February. All of the businesses present will benefit from this boutique, allowing them to improve their products (marketing, packaging, design, etc.). All products will also be available online on QI’s new digital platform.

It should be noted, however, that Neoshop should be moving into the old Dow Planetarium, which is under renovation.

Caffeine alliance with Factry (Science of Creativity School)

In November and December took place the first formations delivered by the Creativity School, La Factry. Creativity says coffee! There was no one better than Café Liégeois to maintain humour, creativity and joy of life at its highest for the guests. After the project launch a few months ago during the 2016 edition of C2MTL, we wanted to return on the foundation and actors of the Factry, our new partners and clients.

Collaborative project and leadership objective:

The major goal of Factry is to forge the minds to find creative solutions to contemporary challenges. Imagined by Philippe Meunier a few years ago, the idea took form with the participation of Marie Amiot, president and chief-executive officer, and Hélène Godin, head of creation. Numerous collaborations allowed the implementation of the project, such as the Association of Creative Communications Agencies (A2C) and Collège Sainte-Anne. In the past year and a half, many associations and professional orders have also joined the project.

For students and professionals

Factry wishes to offer a trans disciplinary and innovative approach on an international-level campus allowing interaction between different worlds (transnational, different business world, etc.) For that, they offer continuing education programs for professionals. It’s here that Café Liégeois intervenes with a leading coffee service throughout the training days. Between the coffee odours, the courses take form through creative formation workshops, aiming to resolve collective or business issues.

 

The third and final formation of the first work cycle will take place during the beginning of the next school semester in January. Once again, Café Liégeois will be present as a proud partner and service provider.

These are the newcomers of the Café Liégeois family. We’ve been telling you about it for the past few weeks, on our social media or during meetings in various events. However, did you really know what we were talking about?

Less known than grains and capsules, these famous ESE Pods indeed already existed in Quebec and are thriving in Europe. Focus on these small biodegradables espresso pods that will makes us happy. 

Pods Café Liégeois - La Piccola

The power of an espresso through a paper filter

The ESE Pod (Easy Serving Espresso) was one of the first created in order to obtain an individual format of an espresso, all in simplicity. They work with a large range of espresso machines (here is our favourite). These individual doses of coffee contain approximately seven grams enclosed between two layers of filtered paper, with a well-packed grind for an optimal preparation. The Pods allow themselves to create a delicious, creamy and smooth espresso coffee. 

The advantages of ESE pods

The main advantage of these ESE Pods lies in the ecological side and biodegradable packaging. The number of decrees is lower than any other existing system in terms of espresso in an individual format. The shelf life of the product is also very important, up to 18 months. The majority of manual espresso coffee machines accept the ESE and other coffee pods. Thanks to these machines, you get the benefit of a cream and a regular cup of coffee without ever having to adjust the coffee machine, nor dirt from the grinding.
